ACKERMANN Tom Raw rejects the embraces of the Nabob of Bengal. London: R. Ackermann 1828 Hand coloured engraving with full margins. Fine. 8 x 5" From 'Tom Raw, the griffin: A burlesque poem, in twelve cantos. By a civilian and an officer of the Bengal Establishment.' A satire about the misadventures of a bumpkin set loose in Calcutta. The poem was published anonymously but is generally attributed to Sir Charles D’Oyly, who served in the East India Company.
