Showing items in Stamps and Covers - Cayman Islands

Postage stamps, booklets, flight, censored and maritime mail and philatelic covers of Cayman Islands for sale.

There seem to be many new collectors of Caymans stamps these days.  There are no classic stamp issues to collect, no pre stamp postal history yet Caymans philately is very much alive.  Important collections do seem to come up for auction at frequent intervals which no doubt helps.

For information on Caymans philately I recommend Aguilar and Saunders book, The Cayman Islands.  Their postal history, postage stamps and postmarks as the best work on the stamp issues.  The Giraldi and McCann handbook The postal history of the Cayman Islands is the best and most up to date book on postmarks.

Post and packing is extra but does not increase however many items are ordered.  Inland £1, Europe £1.50 and Overseas £2

CAPON Richard and GIBB Bill & STEWART George The Farthing BWISC 2021 102pp. 1st ed., new in card covers. The humble farthing, which not that many people will remember, was the cost of posting Printed Papers locally in some colonies of the Empire. Most were in the West Indies. This book catalogues all of these stamps and shows some very uncommon uses. The coverage extends outside the West Indies to Malta in particular and also to Fiji. There are instances where farthing stamps/labels were used as revenues in Australia, South Africa and diverse places, such as Heligoland. There are listed examples of the farthing labels used in the Highland Railways of Scotland. Places where farthing stamps were used are all covered and as a special treat there is an appendix showing some rare uses from the Ronald Rong Collection
